Biography
Born in 1997, Elliot Teo is a Singaporean composer whose catalogue of works span concert music, film, and television, shaped by a deep fascination with pattern, structural clarity, and the underlying order of the natural world. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, where he completed a Bachelor of Music in Composition with First Class Honours and graduated second in his cohort (2023), Elliot has established himself as a distinctive and versatile musical voice across Europe and Asia.
His music has been performed in venues across North America, Europe, and Asia, including in his home country of Singapore. He has collaborated with distinguished musicians and ensembles such as the Britten Sinfonia, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the SYC Ensemble Singers, harmonicist CY Leo, and saxophonist Samuel Phua.
Elliot’s work has received numerous accolades. In recent years, he was won First Prize in the International Composition Competition for Chromatic Harmonica (Hong Kong) for his work 'Street Scenes', later recorded in New York and premiered at the World Harmonica Festival. He is also the recipient of the Muriel Dawson Prize (Richmond Concert Society, London), and a prizewinner in the Alan Bush Prize (Royal Academy of Music) and English Art Song Competition (Association of English Speakers and Singers).
In 2020/21, he was awarded an exclusive publishing contract with Black Dot Press. As a member of the Britten Sinfonia’s Opus 1 cohort (2021–22), he collaborated closely with its musicians in the development and professional recording of a new work, 'Prayers in the Desert Air' at Stapleford Granary.
Alongside his compositional career, Elliot has worked at the highest professional level within the industry. He served as Music Assistant to Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber at The Really Useful Group (now LW Entertainment) in London, where he facilitated the preparation of materials for the 2024 production of 'Starlight Express' at the Troubadour, Wembley. He has also worked as a music arranger for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, producing orchestrations for major national events, and as an engraver and educator, holding a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) for piano teaching.
Beyond music, Elliot has a Master of Arts in Law (First Class) from The University of Law, London. His dissertation focused on tax, private funds, and charities. In 2026, he obtained his SQE1 (Solicitors Qualifying Examination) and is currently pursuing his SQE2. He also holds a Level 3 Award (Distinction) in Fine Wines from the Wines and Spirits Education Trust.
Elliot lives in London with his wife, a concert pianist, and their two cats, Bartók and Bob.
